I know with the turbulent stock and financial markets people are getting sick to their stomachs.

I was reading an outstanding book last night called “The 100 Greatest Advertisements 1852-1958” by Julian Lewis Watkins and came across a classic ad on page 112, It’s an advertisement with a gentleman handing money to his wife with the headline “Here’s an extra $50, Grace - I’m making real money now.” The ad goes on to explain how the husband has taken night courses to get a promotion that pays him $50 more…

Today, I want to talk to you about how you can start small, with a $47 investment and convert that to a few hundred dollars per week of extra income. Times have changed - you need several HUNDRED dollars a week to make a dent in your finances!

Yes, that’s right – I have an exponential strategy to get 10% more suspects and prospects into YOUR database today.

They are already there, you just don’t know it.

That’s right – they are there, but you can’t find them.

When you search for people with e-mails, they’re not there.

When you search for people with mobiles to SMS them, they’re not there.

When you search for people in New South Wales, they’re not there.

But they’re there.

But you can’t find them.

Confused?

Let me explain.

Chances are your database is not 100% clean and tidy. That means you have data in the wrong places and when you’re searching, you can’t find what you’re looking for.

The solution is for you to do a data cleanse.

I’ve used the services of Birendra Shah – he’s on Guru.com, his ID is 1029306.

He cleans all our data – based on Australian standards and rules for phone numbers, addresses, etc.

He will make sure that:

  • States are correctly and uniformly identified (NSW instead of N.S.W. or NewSouth Wales or N South Wales, etc.)
  • ALL phone numbers are formatted correctly and additional digits, spaces, parentheses and hyphens are removed.
  • Mobiles are all in the MOBILE column and NOT in the PHONE column – if they are not in the MOBILE column, you can’t do an SMS campaign to them!
  • He’ll make sure that addresses that can be, are completed – for example all postcodes 3000-3999 will have ‘VIC’ added to the STATE field.
  • Duplicate phone numbers are removed.

The net effect of doing this means you will ‘GAIN’ as much as or even MORE than 10% suspects and/or prospects from WITHIN your database.

We recently did exactly this exercise and ‘found’ 600 new mobile numbers, we ‘completed’ more than 800 addresses that we could now send postcards and event invitations to.

This is a priceless improvement that costs as little as $100 for a small database and not more than $500 for a larger one.

Of course there are additional benefits to doing this – for example it simplifies the removal of duplicate entries which will save you MULTIPLES of the clean up. It will help you see your information more clearly as you quickly scan reports and e-mail campaigns.

Today, I’m going to tell you all about an Internet site that gives you a whole new way to generate traffic to your site.

It’s called StumbleUpon.com

StumbleUpon is a recommendation system which uses peer and social networking principles to promote webpages that its users approve of.

It’s a word of mouth system - users rate a site by giving it a thumbs up, thumbs down or neutral on the StumbleUpon toolbar, and can post a review on the site, which also appears on the user’s blog.

StumbleUpon has ENORMOUS potential in maximizing brand exposure.

You can get started by installing the toolbar, which is compatible with Internet Explorer and Firefox.

There is also another way in which you can monetize StumbleUpon and take advantage of millions of visitors.

Put advertising on YOUR site. Use a good banner company that pays you a good rate. Also try private ad arrangements and negotiate for specific rates.

Use affiliate banners or affiliate text links within your content. I would suggest taking the time to disguise the links to improve your Click Through Rate (CTR).

Use video advertising. Remember, we talked about www.Revver.com that allows you to put up videos and get paid whenever anyone clicks on ads within the video…

Monetized image hosts. Several image hosts allow you to earn money whenever anyone clicks on a thumbnail which leads to the full image on their website.

Use subscription based monetization. An example of this is an online magazine, business networking community or forum which offers a premium section for paying members, kind of like the Wizard’s Website Wisdom™, The Dr’s Daily Distinctions™ or Squash Lessons for Marketing…

Buy sponsored stumbles. You can run an advertising campaign with StumbleUpon and pay 5 cents for every targeted person they send to your website. You can target according to personal interest, history of rating similar sites, location, and demographics such as age and sex.

Hi Marc,

I just thought that I would give you an update on how my Google Adword campaign is going.

I had a meeting today with a company who is based in Sydney (I am based in Melbourne) who found my business on Google and called me. Before I met him, he had self selected AGB Solutions to implement a HACCP system for his business. He had selected AGB Solutions based purely on what he read on my website, and that I was the business to meet his needs, as I was obviously passionate about what I do (check out the landing page: http://www.agbsolutions.com.au/food_safety_programs.php for yourself).

He was in Melbourne for a meeting tonight and scheduled his flight home around the time that I could meet him. We discussed his needs and he reiterated that we were a good fit (he is an importer of quality tea from Germany) and I a supplier of quality food safety management systems. He committed to the project on the spot.

Generally it takes two to three months to have a HACCP system fully certified. As I was his chosen supplier, he was able to fit in with my schedule when I am Sydney next Month for the Virtual Real Estate Empire Building Workshop (I am heading up one day early) and then… offered to prepay the full amount UPFRONT. I normally invoice in thirds at different stages of the project. This blew me away.

Since my last email two weeks ago, I have also had discussions with three other companies, who ALL sound promising. One is a national chain of 16 retail stores with their head office and processing facility in Melbourne. I am meeting them next week; to not only discuss their processing facility, but also to implement systems for their 16 retail stores. This is only in early stages but I am quietly confident that I have already said enough to win them over. ALL from Google Adwords!

I know you like the numbers, so here they are:

My most expensive Adword is…$1.00. My current Google Adword account has cost me about $200 per month over 3 months. Since I set up Google analytics 6 weeks ago, I have had 815 visitors to my site from 15 different countries (688 from Australia). I have had 25 people who I have never met add their details to my data base.

To compare: My current Yellow Pages advertisement is worth $2,400 (about $200 per month as well) and I have had one enquiry, who is yet to commit. Yellow Pages are trying to get me to recommit to 2009. What chance do they have? I now have $20,500 committed revenue and another $25,000 quoted and quite probable (fingers crossed). All from Google! (for the same price PLUS I control this 100% AND can modify my strategy on-the-spot which I can’t do with Yellow Pages)

How would the ad go? Three days for UYMG: $295, accommodation, airfares and transfers approximately $500. $1,400 spent plus three days of drinking water from a fire hydrant to make a possible $45,000.00. PRICELESS. This is 3 months worth of effort. Multiply those metrics over 12 months.

As you say, you do the maths!

The reason this strategy is working so well is that Gavin LOVES what he does, is not afraid to SHOW IT and ARTICULATES it in EVERY SINGLE communication with his suspects and prospects. If you START to do the same, you TOO will improve your results in QUANTUM leaps…
